The QD is OEM on all A2 truck on up...it’s on there because its next too if not impossible to use the old style
hose connecto as used on the A0/A1 v-belt setup. The fan blade is different and not nearly as accessibl.
IMO, it’s just as needed on an early truck as the fan clutch hose has to come...
I actually just did this same research yesterday. The sock has an Ac delco part number, problem is, absolutley no one
has them in stock anywhere. The sock for our tanks does have a fail safe as you describe over the early sock and works pretty much as you have pointed out. Personally, I just...
I think the statement “can’t leave well enough alone” pretty much sums it up.
if you don’t like replies, good, bad, indifferent, don’t post.....like you, I have an opinion, mine opinions In this arena
are based on experience on a single platform for many many years.
I just see no need to...
i keep seeing people post here and on FB when some guy has a problem...Damn near almost any problem, “install a ground harness”, how bout go find the problem? What happend to fixing the problem?
Now, doing this 7 days a week, 365 days a years has taught me that if a ground harness fixes a...
way to take a simple conversion and make it a nightmare...really, it’s all plug and play, absolutely no need to machine anything. Your on your own when you decide to “engineer“ a supposed better solution.
The short answer is NO...it’s not more reliable. I work on them 7 days a week, the most reliable hmmwv is a A0-A1.
i have one A0 truck left that I own, the rest are A2’s and M11XX trucks, I haven’t done a thing to my A0 in years, I just drive it.
just cut if off.....I do it all the time, takes about 2mins.
Thr tank vent is not on the pickup tubes, it’s on the top plate.
there is a large pickup tube with a sock on it, and the drainback tube.
the sock is expensive and only sourced through a distributor.
most m1123’s had the non-variable rate spring MWO applied due to MAK.
you would need to install 954lb fronts and variables in the rear to get it back to pre-MAK.
Swapping too a new A2 fuel tank allows for a nice refresh of critical component, such as fuel tank sock, sender, pickup tubes etc...plus, the tank is cheap. Also good to have in any sort of preparation for a 4L80e.
side note, unless the rear differential support brkt has been upgraded, you will...
like I said, your just masking a bigger issue. We don’t install them on ANY trucks in my shop nor have I seen one on a hmmwv in the military in my 27yrs.
Number 1 reason the OP is maxed out I’ve seen is the wrong sender was installed during reset...the sender for the hmmwv is specific.MS24539-1
also, what OP gauge do you have...?
Find a good hmmwv mechanic or download the TM’s to properly TS the issues.
sounds like you just received your truck? Did you buy from reputable person or business?
i see many exported trucks as a way for guys to dump marginal truck.
