That turn signal bulb problem is very common on all the 1980's Chevy trucks. I replaced all mine a few years ago. Same thing. Corroded connection came off.
I agree about the need for any external help starting the multifuel. I removed my ether start system years ago. Never needed it here. Now if I lived up North like Canada or Alaska that would be a different story, but down here in the lower 48 there really is no need as long as your truck is...
Glad you found the problem. Troubleshooting electrical issues was the bane of my mechanical career ! I would rather remove four brace rods then troubleshoot electrical issues !
There was this one bus that had an intermittent problem. The mechanic who got the job ended up tearing the bus apart...
Actually "ether" is fine in any high compression engine if used wisely. Also the "intake flame heater" does nothing to the engine oil or cranking speed. It just heats the incoming air. That helps ignite the fuel quicker, but does nothing for cranking speed or current draw or oil thickness. Now...
Read the "Skookum" design characteristics and you will see they only use high quality steel in all their snatch blocks. No cheap Chinese steel here ! Also most are engineered to handle 30% over rated load. So yes they demand a high price and get it too !
I researched snatch blocks a few years...
Actually that is not quite true. According to the "Industry Recommended Practices for Tire Retreading & Tire Repairing" retreads are not recommended for the front axle of "long haul trucks" . There are also individual state laws that prohibit using retreads on the front axle of trucks. So if...
With my system you will not need to do anything to the original layout of the truck, except add a hydraulic pump (easy) and some work on the steering gear itself. But hey if you like what you have no problems.
At this time I'm trying to go to upper management and see if anything can be done. Right now they want me to "replant" all "original Washington vegetation" on the whole property ! We have 5 acres and most of that is grass. We spent thousands of dollars to have it done and now those "asswipes"...
I have all the parts to make my system work, but I didn't get my shop built this year. So I need to wait until this spring or summer before I can tear apart the front end to do all the mods. When I was younger I could work out in the rain and cold and it didn't bother me much. Now it just makes...
I bought it from "Northern Tool and Equipment" . I also bought the foot operated hydraulic power supply. The unit itself weighs in at around 30 Ibs so not to bad to lug around. I own all the "duck bill" sledge hammers and "pry bars" to manually break down tires, but after using this hydraulic...
The flame heaters are a nice option to have if you live up north in Alaska, down south of that it is not needed at all. Just like you found out, they are a nice source of leaks.
I bought a good hydraulic bead buster and was able with my bad back and knees to bust down 12 tires in two hours. The hardest part was just moving the tires themselves. So save yourself a lot of pain and misery and buy the hydraulic unit.
Those look like mighty fine winches !!!
I think I will be buying a 24Volt Stallion for my deuce and a 17,000 model for my new Chevy. At 1/3 the cost of a WARN Winch I can afford to buy two !
TRUE ! Considering this was the first time in my life I ever bought a new vehicle I do believe I came out pretty good.
Why in the world do we even need dealerships salesman for vehicles anyway ? Who thought that was a good idea ?
Anyway since the seat "warmer/cooler" came in a package I'm not...
