Well... There is a "Cat Pipe" that you could install in place of your converter. Not to break the law - but to test and prove the theory that your CAT might be Clogged.
Chances are that is the problem...

Welcome to the Outfit!
Be sure to post some pictures - maybe even some with your "New-To-You" truck still on the trailer! Then once you have her on the ground, more pictures. Some with the hood up, the doors open (if you have them) and from all sides. That way you will put a "stake in the...

Welcome to the Outfit!
Any chance you could share some pictures? The few pictures I have seen of the M76 appear to have tires inside the track for "bogies". Is that so? Seems like that would improve the ride in a 1960's baby tank...

Based on the message count that you have and the question about what fluid goes here - I am thinking you are new to the hobby and this group. So, Welcome to the Outfit! Snap us some pictures of the rest of your truck. That way we can see what you have going on. You may want to spend a few...

Welcome to the Outfit!
Post up some pictures so we know for sure what you have - and to put a stake in the ground - so you can have picture of where you started. Be sure to download the Technical Manuals too. That will help with troubleshooting as well...

Welcome to the Outfit!
You need to snap some pictures of your truck to kinda "put a stake in the ground" so you can see your progress as you work along. AND with pictures the rest of us can enjoy your vehicle too!

I have to agree with @juanprado .
Definitely nothing to be gained by going to Synthetic.
In my opinion, if you aren't running through creeks and mud holes you could easily get to double your current mileage and still be clean.
