Battery might be starting to go and/or your cables might be corroded under the rubber, causing Problems.
Load test battery's to see if their still healthy.
If cables are original, I recommend you replace them.

The last few days here have been rainy, foggy, misty and just plain gloomy.
After some night driving and the stock halogens just not cutting it, I finally ordered a set of Truck-Lite LED 5x7 Headlights.
Been debating getting them for a while, but the last few days have decided it for me...
Removing the drum from the Hub does not affect the parking brake.
Adjusting the star wheel does, but the parking brakes are adjustable at the lever for this very reason.
If I want to check brakes, it makes no sense to remove hub with drum.
If I want to check bearings I still remove drum for...

Pop the access/dust cover off the slot on the rear bottom of the backing plate.
Then with a screwdriver, back off the brake adjustment.
Drum then slides right off the hub once the screws are removed.
Very easy
When done, reverse steps
Adjust brakes as desired.
The 8.3L is a 200,000+ mile engine if properly maintained.
Oil/Filter Changes are key.
Allison should be close.
Same with oil/filter changes.
Some on SS have had engine issues. Most haven't.
Usually it's from sitting and not being used for months, years in some cases.
Others flat out run...
