Yea that's the way to go. Also the wheel dolly has a rear adjuster so the whole set up comes straight off when the axle is jacked just on one side. This is very important when dealing with oil seals as not to damage them on install of the hub. Floor jacks and such you can not change the angle of...
Good to see the young crowd coming up with good answers.
If the oil slinger in the hub is working the shoes will not get wet if it is and axle leak. Wheel cylinder then yes wet.
Not real bad that gear oil and grease mix but that mix will keep the bearings cool even with a full load. If the...
I would never believed it. I will always prime my systems with the filter installed empty no matter what a TM says. Don't know why DD or the older Cat's did not have a primer pump in the engine bay. I still stand by my right tool for any job. Tanks
Think I would install it close to the fuel filter block. Leave the out end hooked to the filter block and the suction line long enough to fit in a gallon jug. Have some kind of cap made up to keep dirt out of the open end. Mine is just sitting in the engine bay of the crane but before I just...
No bearing in the spindle but you must lube the bushing before install. We have talked about that for years.
Also would bet that the new bushing will need to be reamed to correct size.
You need a primer pump like the 809 series has an two hoses for fast and easy priming is what I found. A clean jug of fuel and the fitting that screws into the filter block. That is the way I have always done Detroit's.
Works on Cat's to. By the time you do the air/fuel tank thing I would be...
Your first statement has me. Master on. The Deuce A3 cat did not have a electric fuel pump. The thread I am thinking talked about if prime is lost. Almost need the little had pump to get the rail clear to fire easy. The Cat 3116 in my M1088 now has a hand primer to expel air for fast start. As...
Yea G your right. There is not a lot of extra room as it is. The trailer is still useable as she sit's on the tractor. Guess when at a rally I would be dropping the trailer so I could go on the Convoy anyway. If I leave them hooked I just have to make sure the AC still has enough down slant so...
I will check that out. Yea I want to raise the trailer as much as I can. I know I will with my tractor and the 395's the trailer will never be level but it sure would be nice not to have to unhook to get level when sleeping in it. Tanks.
My 6 ton trailer uses the Deuce rim and running a 900/20. I would like step up to a 1100/20 or something close. I want a one piece tubeless so I could make the repair myself if need be. Thought there was a thread where it was said that the school bus wheels have the same lug pattern. Anyone know...
Also I have a Durmax motor that had one higher injector rate balance number. After 3 months using Stanadyne product that number is .04 where it was 1.3 I believe in using the right product. I use it in everything old and Military I have. I would be willing to bet the Cetane in the 1980's...
Whatever I use I always pull on both frame rails the same as close as I can. If something was stuck bad enough and you pull on just one side you could shift the frame rails.
If you bring up the main fuel to a max Temp. but don't reduce the droop you will waist fuel in the lower end of the rpm scale. Forgot who be he tweeked his droop after a bypass and adjusting the main he said there was a small amount of fuel saving there from what he found.
Mine front's are still sitting on the ground. I know that little bit of weight will not gain me much but also removed the brass /steel knuckles that are used to tighten down the front springs for air lift. I would remove the Hyd. cylinders if I can find a fitting to join the two hoses together...
You would think in military application we would want no air then the fan is engaged. Air pressure then would disengage. Now the fan on my MTV 3116 Cat is like that it takes air to disengage so it is locked up till the air comes up in the truck. One would think if there was a problem in the...
