    Issues with SF-97

"air launched missle trailer out of Jacksonville" - I was looking at those as well. Nice new trailer for my tractor for hauling tree parts around property - let us know how the EUC goes!

    M76 Otter pics and information

Would love to have a M76, but think shipping to FL would kill me. Will be keeping an eye in the classifieds - thanks!

    Installed NOS Lollipop Lights

Thank you Valence for this! Have mine from Saturn sitting here and will be installing later today. Thanks, Frank

    Lakeland FL April 21-26, 2015: Sun n Fun International Fly-In & Expo

I'll be there with my M35A2 - 2 adults, 3 kids. Day tripping out on Friday the 26th would be best for us. Will bring my towbar and lights in the event there's a recovery requirement. We'll have to drive 2 vehicles - is it known yet how parking and admission costs will be in that scenario? (not...

cost of ownership (the real cost of a deuce)

They certainly seemed to have gone up a bit in price. Not like I'm going to part with mine, but nice to know the $$$ I put into her could be somewhat recouped in time. With the work it does pulling down trees and hauling unfathomly heavy loads that would snap the F150 like a twig, it mostly pays...

Central Florida Military flea market and show April 19-20 2014

Good time at the event today. Few pictures and videos: And Bo with his 5 ton, which was a very nice truck: http://youtu.be/hZRNZ0DbS_E http://youtu.be/RlI0mq9y-SA Missed taking pictures of all the trucks and jeeps in the show area - even had a tracked vehicle there too. -Frank

Central Florida Military flea market and show April 19-20 2014

Anyone know if we can come/leave at any time, or do we need to be there before opening and hang until close? Assuming flexible times, will give me time to clean up the deuce a little and give it the usual preflight checks before driving it. =) Thanks, Frank

Central Florida Military flea market and show April 19-20 2014

Nice close event for me - will have to get truck cleaned up a bit first.

    Greetings From Central Florida

Hi from Apopka! I think Ian (SS - lavarok) in Melbourne is selling his M109A3 if you are looking for a camper. -Frank

Cut open coolant filter from the deuce

Maybe I was a bit aggressive and lucky, but I used an 8 point impact socket (square head on plug) and an impact gun. Came right out without an issue. Well worth the $10 for the socket...that I'll likely never use again (but have loaned out a few times). That said, I like Jake's method as well...

    Torque rod/dogbone mod and removal

The wood block and wedge method worked well for me - albeit with my personal lack of physical mass, replacing all 6 of my torque rods was the most difficult maintenance item so far.

    Check your brake fluid!

Good point - and don't forget to test one's emergency brake every so often - as well as your downshifting skills. Yet another good reason to not drive the deuce fast, but maybe I'm a bit overcautious.

    Check your brake fluid!

Got mine from Pegasus as well - so easy to check the brake fluid before any drive. Bleeding brakes with a pressure bleeder is a trivial task now with the T connection under the reservoir.

    Rear Axles are not Aligned

I had this issue as well on my deuce - specifically that they articulated forward/rearward far too much for the tight clearances required by the 395s. Turned out it was my torque bars wearing - so fairly easy to fix relatively speaking. It does still move side to side a lot, but as mentioned...

    Vise on the front bumper

Thanks for pictures - makes me want one up there even more now. If anyone has a spare Wilton they took off their truck and want to get rid of, I'm certainly interested. My deuce has the spot for the vice, but no vice sadly.

cost of ownership (the real cost of a deuce)

Wow, you guys make me feel a lot better. I spent $3,850 on my M35a2, but Dave in Deltona fixed a few things that were wrong with it and drove it to my door. Then come the ala carte items, like torque bars ($750), 395 MVTs with rims ($2300), troop seats, cover, and the endless trickle of...

    M109 Front End Alignment

Not much I can add - I use the same alignment method for my deuce that I use for my old F150. Use (2) 3' pieces of heavy aluminum L channel that I support off the ground a bit with a block against both tires, centered. Then, grab one of the kids to hold the tape measure on one side while I...

    Big trucks big tools ?

Harbor Freight will become a good friend. Had to upgrade almost all of my air tools when I got my deuce to 3/4" impact. At HF, they are relatively dirt cheap - and always bring the 20% of coupon (ideally wait until it's on sale/clearance, then use the coupon). Was told the 3/4" impact wrench I...

    Axle U-bolts

I think they were $15 each, but maybe less for all 4. Took the morning off of work and drove over to Jungle with the old one in hand. If you are going to travel there, I'd make sure he has the correct length and thickness of the straight rods in stock and bring on old one to check the nuts you...
