    Cross country time!

Well, my tour up here in IL is finally over! Time to move on to greener pastures(or Afghan deserts in my case). I'm moving the wife back to San Diego in the M1009 and just wanted to throw a lifeline out there for support. Belts, harmonic balancer, all fluids, wheel bearings, rear shoes, and...

    Bumper carriage bolts

So here's the deal, I did a search a couple different ways and terms, and after reading through a few worthless posts here's my dilemma. I'm putting a reciever hitch on my m1009, but there are a couple bolts on the rear bumper that need to come out and I'm just wondering if anyone has a useful...

Could running out of fuel kill the fuel pump?

Here's the scenario, I was running pretty close to empty(checking a full tank MPG) but I think my guage is a little off. Started this morning ran for about 30 sec and then died. I chocked it up to out of fuel. Put fuel in, 5 gallons, tried to crank but no fire up, just cranking over. Tried...

    External trans cooler fluid offset

This might sound stupid, but I'm going to install an aftermarket external transmission cooler in series with the one in the radiator. What I'm wondering is adding that extra bit of tubing going to hold enough ATF that I will need to add some to make sure I have enough fluid? Thanks in advance.

    Heater switch/Gen light

Just wondering if anyone else had this issue or can tell me if I'm right. My heater died the other day(of course after the first snow) so after some research on here i checked the switch. Sure enough it was fried, the same pin I saw on someone else's post about it. Replaced the switch and...

    Missing torq conv bolt

Well something I've been meaning to do for a while, taking off the inspection cover and checking out my flexplate, worked out today. No cracks and it turns out one of the torque converter bolts pulled a houdini on me. Replaced the bolt and tightened the rest, definitely feels better. Thanks...

    Shifting issue

So here's the deal, every time I floor the gas pedal it stays in first and won't shift. doesn't matter if I'm moving or a dead stop. If I drive normal it shifts great. just replaced the modulator and lines a couple months ago, and don't think its the pump because it shifts fine normally. Any...

    Transfer Case Q's

I was doing some stuff with the m1009, and noticed a little puddle of what I'm guessing is ATF on the trans skid plate. Couple questions: 1. I followed the wetness up to what(excuse the noobness) I think is the output shaft for the front axle. A seal maybe? I can't figure out where it's...

    motor mount install

So I looked through the search a few times trying to find some info on installing new motor mounts and didn't really find anything. Here's my question: is there a better way to do other than lifting the engine and unbolting everything? I got both the old ones off, but the long bolt through...

Replacing transmission modulator and vacuum lines

So I went to drive the M1009 today and it wouldn't shift from 1st no matter what I did. So after some research on here I replaced the vacuum lines from the transmission vacuum valve assy. I also replaced the modulator on the transmission as mine looked like it had been dipped in extra chunky...

    m1009 Transmission Mount

So I was going through the LMC book and ordering motor/ transmission mounts and various other things, and they arrived yesterday. So I decided to start looking the project and just get some ideas on where and how to start. Long story short I saw the trans mounts that are on it now and realized...

    check out my "new" M1009

I'm pretty new to this site, but with a lot of searching and research on here I decided to go pick up a M1009 from a local dealer. And the day after I got it all the glow plugs went out. So replaced those with my wife(after one broke off in the precombustion chamber I had to fish out) and it...
