2011 Wa State Mini Rally #5

Stalwart: It has the red stuff in it, so sounds like a rebuild. I never had any issues with it, besides it not wanting to shift if I didn't let it warm up enough on a cold day. Probably put 200 miles on the truck. Also, it had high range reverse locked out with a plate. I believe I read high...

    ~~What Not to do with a Deuce~~

Don't drive with the hood latches unclipped. If you are lucky, all that will be dented is your hood.

2011 Wa State Mini Rally #5

I'm not sure if it required a rebuild at ME to install the REB kit or not? If it did, I would guess it was done sometime in the 80's. Best I can tell, under 3000 original miles on the truck. A majority of the tires look original. Was converted to a wildland rig at some point, and I did my best...

2011 Wa State Mini Rally #5

Stalwart: Original automatic with the REB shift kit (by Memphis I believe?). Mostly original truck, with a M35 bed, and civy turn signals.

2011 Wa State Mini Rally #5

srodocker: I am the original owner of that XM211. I went with REO yesterday to take a look at it. I'm traveling the next few days, but will post more info and pictures when I get time. If you want, PM me your phone number, and I can call you with more info. c

GMC 211 engine and auto trans boost and smooth

It should run a lot better than that. Sounds like it needs a tune up. I had a 211 with a couple bent pushrods that made it low on power. I would check everything over closely.

    Duramax HMMWV playin' 2wd fun!

I want one!! I've always thought that would be an awesome conversion to do, glad someone finally did it! I would be curious about how fast it is on the road/packed dirt. It ain't no race car I'm sure, but you can get some beans outta them duramax's.

    Deuce In the Snow. Amazing.

I was pretty surprised how well mine did as well the first time I took it out in a good bit of snow in Idaho. The one thing to watch out for is any substantial side hill. Only time I've had issues was on a slick side hill. Look for a thread by "joey", I believe he was in your neck of the woods...

2 month old split axle boots

I used the non-zippered OD Iron ones. The truck was used about 200 miles, sat the rest of the time. I looked at them a year later, cracked to ****. Never heard of Erik's? Do you have a contact number or website? I'll need to re-do mine this next summer :(

Right and wrong way to start a deuce

He mentioned the wrong way in his thread title. My example would be one of the many wrong ways. Start it, let it idle for 5 minutes, and be easy on her till shes warmed up. If your going to let it idle for more than 5 minutes, bump the hand throttle to >1000 RPM after the initial 5 minutes...

Right and wrong way to start a deuce

Don't do it like I've seen GL guys do it....throttle to the floor, when it fires, stay at 2000+ rpm for 5 mins to get the air pressure up....

Recovering m1009 out of ohio tomorrow, may need help

I hauled a M1009 with a 2002 1/2ton GMC Sierra using a mil towbar. The CUCV was missing an engine, the seller put the 6.2l in the bed of the Sierra for us to put in later. It towed like a dream, even when we had to get up to 75mph. Brakes were a little less than ideal, just take it slow and...

    Rear axle seal please help

I would tear down your axles. If the oil made it out that far, it probably flushed the grease out of the bearings, and soaked your brakes with the whole mess.

    9.00 x 20 Tires, good in snow?

I ran NDT's on my M35A2 in Idaho for a winter. I drove mostly on compact snow and ice. It was slick, but I didn't feel unsafe. Just anticipate stops and turns a LOT sooner, and go slow. Stay away from sidehill operation, things get scary fast. Chains will help.

    Broken starter both problem

I actually took my old bolt out with a screwdriver, it was so loose. Carbide bit might make it thru the bit in there. Just another one of the joys of owning a 6.2. When your putting it back together make sure your starter has the support bracket on the tail end.

    Deuce Turbo Death Help

C's are fun for the first 5 minutes....I always wanted a C until I actually got one and drove it around for a few days...then I couldn't wait to get rid of it.

    Redstone Arsenal, Huntsville, AL

I was just out there a couple days ago to get a 915 and 916 outside the DRMO lot for Wreckerman. Adam slaved both trucks for me. The 916 didn't want to start so he had the hood up and the manual bypass on the IP on the ole cummins going in minutes! I've worked with most of the group out there...
