Can those that have deleted their PPV's post up a picture or two? I am scratching my head a little on how to do this.. The PPV has 2 ports that are 90 degrees apart. I can't just do regular NPT fittings.. I don't think those will work when trying to replace a component in between 2 components...
So the other day I read through the rather lengthy "rops" thread, which discussed installing roll cages or other protecting devices in/on deuces. There were a lot of interesting points brought up. Some of the biggest factors were cost, difficulty, and the issue with fastening the roll cage to...
The yellowish mat located under the stock military batteries.. Is that to help neutralize acid, absorb vibration, or both? Mine looks pretty nasty. I would like to replace it if possible. I'm going to go ahead and do the swap to 2 Group 31 batteries. I need more room in the battery box for...
Drove it to work this morning, as I have done since Monday. Everything functioned as it should (except for the lame stock heater.) It was 20 degrees when I left for work this morning, and it was only 28 degrees when I came back to the shop after I completed my job for the day. Parked my work...
So has anyone here upgraded their intake stack and piping to a larger diameter, to help with airflow when turning up the fuel? I noticed on eBay that people are selling 8" military intake stack caps. Most say they are for the HEMTT (HEMTT owners feel free to chime in on that.) A 3" increase in...
I plan to install my new 3 lever switch tomorrow before the family arrives. Is there anything special that I need to know? (tips or advice)
Also, I bought the filter upgrade cage from Those Military Guys. A search brought up filter #AF25354 by Fleetguard. Is that the correct filter to use with...
After the coolant has been drained as much as possible from the system using the radiator drain, how much fluid is left in there? I seem to remember someone saying 3 gallons, but I want to be sure. There is only water in there now, as I have flushed all of the antifreeze out.
So, assuming 3...
I have finished painting up everything, and am trying to get it reinstalled on the truck. First problem is that the 2 new gaskets that I bought are garbage.. The internal diameter is not even big enough to fit over the pipe! So, I figured I would cut a slot in one side so it could spread open a...
I'm considering replacing all of my coolant hoses when I drain the coolant to replace it and install my block heater. They don't look bad at all, but if the price isn't too ridiculous I might just do them. However, a search online finds a seller here that carries this hose, a seller there that...
So I did the H4 conversion on my M931A2 using Hella glass and 70/75w Hella bulbs. I did the install during the day, and it seemed like I was getting a significant increase in light output. However, when I turned them on at night, it looks like the low beam is almost the same as the old one (I...
I posted a thread a while ago regarding my rear running lights not working. Every single other light works on the truck, with the exception of those 2 bulbs. As was suggested, I started trying to check the connections. I pulled the plate off behind the rear light on the passenger side, turned on...
So.. After searching through the forum, I have some coolant related questions. I have received my 1000w Kats block heater, and I want to prep for the install. I would like to change out as much coolant as possible, and I want to try and do it properly. If I don't get it all out, that's ok...
As part of my ongoing project to add an additional air tank for my 1" impact gun, I ran across a slight problem. While looking for a place to "tee" in for the air line, I found an unused port on my lower air tank. Problem is, the plug is stuck in there solid after 24 years of not being moved. I...
So after doing a few searches regarding block heaters, I have a few questions. First, it seems like there was a bad run of the freeze plug type heaters (people kept having them burn out quickly.) Has that issue been resolved? Also, are there any brands to avoid, or are they all made by the same...
What exactly is this for? Found a NOS kit, all parts included. I'm guessing some sort of cold weather kit? Looks like it has a boiler type pump, bunch of pipes, wood blocks, fittings, etc. Just curious :)
So I picked up a factory tire inflator attachment with glad hand to keep on the truck. However, I am curious what other guys are running for their impact and jack setups (pictures would be awesome 8).) One of the things that I am curious about is the fittings that you guys are using.. I've never...
With the headlights on, truck in neutral, and parking brake on, am I supposed to have any illuminated lights at the rear of the truck? I have turn signals, brake lights when brake is applied, but no running lights (not sure if that's the proper term.. My mind just went blank.) :drool:Granted, I...
So.. There are only two issues with the truck that I bought. The first is slightly leaky seals on the driveshafts. But I will deal with that at some other point. The second problem is the one that really bothers me, and that is the fitment between the windows and the hard top. It is all kinds of...
So.. I ended up cracking my passenger side window pretty badly this morning. The upper left corner was caught on the weather stripping/trim, and I didn't see it when I went to yank the door open. So I developed a nice diagonal crack, almost from corner to corner
After I let out some...
Been lurking around for a couple months, looking at a lot of the excellent threads on here. Finally decided to join now that I bought a 5 ton :)
Brought it home 2 days ago.. 1991 BMY M931A2 with 17k miles. Excellent shape.. Just needs a couple minor fixes. Love it! Neighbors must think I am a...
