8 or 9 is average for me. Of course, that's assuming the fuel gauge is 100% accurate. Like I said, also helps that the area I live in is mostly flat :-P
I also usually don't go faster than 50mph, but I will do 55 if necessary. Most of the back roads and city streets are between 25-40mph, so I...
I forgot to add.. UPGRADE HEADLIGHTS. The stock headlights suck pretty bad. LEDs are the way to go (you reminded me about that in another recent post.)
Yesterday I took one of my nephews for his first drive in my tractor (it was his birthday.) He loved it :) :driver:
Didn't do anything to the truck today. However, when I came home from the doctor/local FFL dealer, I saw some random teen chick hanging off the side of it. When she saw me coming...
Yup. TruckLite LED headlights. Best mod that I have done so far.. They are REALLY freakin bright :) Easy to do, but very expensive because of the particular lights that I had to use.
That's a cool setup :) Honestly, you don't even need those pins on the adjustable vertical legs.. Just hook the front of the winch cable around that lower receiver mount, and you can use the winch to raise/lower it. That would make it "infinitely" adjustable (unless you plan on using the winch...
Good to know. And yeah, as long as it puts out 60A or so at idle I should be fine. I really have nothing else that draws a lot of power.. Headlights are LED, so they're not a problem.
Ah. For some reason I had it in my head that the stock alternator was 100 amps :( This is for an 18,000btu cab heater, so it would be running quite a bit. That is for the high setting, but I am guessing the low setting is around 35A. Either way it sounds like I will have to upgrade my...
Yeah they put up snow fences on certain roads here as well. Seems to help the major drifts from going out on to the road. Of course, I can't say for sure, as I try to avoid BEING on the road when it's snowing that bad :) (unless I am at work.)
Pretty easy to tell if you have an 8.3 instead of a 250.. The 8.3 is smaller, and it has a turbo on the passengers side of the engine :)
Also, if your truck has the tire inflation system, or 4 shackles on the front bumper, you know it's an A2 with the 8.3 engine.
Is that a 14r20? I've seen a few pictures on here of 14r20 Michelins that disintegrated while guys were driving. I believe the cause was cracks in the sidewalls like you show.
If it's a 14r20, I know there's a guy on eBay that sells 90% Goodyears for $175 each. I believe he is located in...
