Odd Engine Tick on Right bank VC

I feel it was the right rear cylinder but I didn't see any definitive reason why. I kept all of them in order while cleaning, then when I installed them I flipped the order (front to back) to see if the noise would move. My test drive went well Sunday after noon. I will wait to see if the noise...

Odd Engine Tick on Right bank VC

I installed 8 new AC 60G glow plugs without any issues. I pulled all of the injectors, ultrasonically cleaned them, lightly oiled them and reinstalled. That was allot easier to type than it was to do. All of those little hose clamps on the return lines are a pain. The noise is gone and still...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately? - Part 1

I installed all new glow plugs, air filter, replaced left headlight bezel, right side headlight bulb and cleaned up all of the ground straps that I found while working. I did coat all connections with Di-electric grease also. I was happy to find out that my fuel gauge now works properly. Bert

    M1009 Steering Damper PN

Thanks Hasdrubal, I found out the Chevy garage gave me a damper for a two wheel drive. aua The counter person didn't listen to what I was telling him. I went to the NAPA store and purchased the Monroe part that you recommended. Bert

    M1009 Steering Damper PN

I picked up a GM steering damper (AC Delco 509-616) for a K5 and its 4+ inches shorter than the one I just pulled off the front end. What are you guys running for a damper on a stock M1009? Thanks in advance, Bert

    the XM971 "command camper" build

I know that camp grounds that are licensed by the state will pass on any and all fines they receive, to you for illegal dumping of gray or black water. You may want to edit your post. The weird twist of the law states, that if you heat the wash water outside and use it outside you can dump it...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately? - Part 1

It's way too clean, you may have to rub some dirt on it. Bert

    the XM971 "command camper" build

This was mandated many years ago to save water in homes. The RV shower normally has a smaller ID hose used to supply it and that would reduce water flow. That's great but you still only have a 5 or 6 gallon reserve of hot water which will be quickly depleted (recovery time varies on these but...

    the XM971 "command camper" build

All new shower heads have this little plastic screen type baffle in them to restrict water flow thru them. Bert

Odd Engine Tick on Right bank VC

I checked the starter and it is tight. I pulled the rear battery and tray to pull the glow plugs from the right bank. The glow plugs on that side look good but I will still replace them. I will pull the injectors next then move to the left side on Saturday. Bert

    the XM971 "command camper" build

I have a travel trailer with a six gallon water heater and it keeps up great as long you have water flow restrictors in place on the fixtures and observe "Fleet showering protocol" you should be fine. The ladies can't be taking any 30 minute showers. Bert

Odd Engine Tick on Right bank VC

Barrman, Thank you for your input, I will work thru your list and report the findings before I open it up. I was planning to do new glow plugs and remove the injectors for inspection and cleaning anyhow. The noise is at idle position and applying throttle. Bert

Odd Engine Tick on Right bank VC

Last night I noticed a noise that almost sounds like a rocker or two ticking on the right hand bank valve cover. I had been doing an alternator rebuild and new belts two weekends ago and didn't notice this noise. I didn't make any road trips since then. I will be opening up that side of the...
