1986 CUCV M1009 Decade after being wrecked.

check ORD for the sway bar disconnect set up to see how far the drop is. I think the bar has do be dropped more than what the current green block is doing. but it won't be 4 inches. some additional slope in the bar is ok. as long as the bushings are good. I would imagine that front end was...

optimizer long block - hummer 24V or cucv 24v

getting closer got it back together. ready to add fluids.

Newly purchased CUCV M1009 won't turn over.

the power steering pump bracket has a square hole in it, from the back side it takes the right length socket extension and size (I believe half inch)/ using a breaker bar not socket wrench you can tighten the power steering pump without having to pry on the pump itself. prying on the pump will...

optimizer long block - hummer 24V or cucv 24v

could not find a 45 degree fitting so I just got a reducer bushing and installed the small sending unit. I already had it working with my gauge when using the 6.2 so it was the easiest thing to do. All I have left now is to install starter, bolt up torque converter and rework two oil lines...

optimizer long block - hummer 24V or cucv 24v

that is what i am going to try to do. since it is a presure switch and not a temp sensor, the extension should not matter. If i can just 45 it, it would be removable without removing intake. from a quick internet search and read, it looks like the switch one is not reliable so i would like to go...

oil presure sending unit The threads and size are not the same. the large one is the presure safety switch the small is the oil presure sending unit. I am going to see if i can find an addapter so i can use the hole in the valley. maybe i can get a 45 degree also so it can be changed without...

optimizer long block - hummer 24V or cucv 24v

thank you, yes it is the one in the valley. I thought it was a newer style oil pressure sending unit. I have the current oil pressure switch for the idiot light in place but I wired all my idiot light sensors into the check engine light so the current sending unit is needed or I will have to...

optimizer long block - hummer 24V or cucv 24v

all I have left to do is put the starter in and wire up the batteries and I can start putting fluids back in it, prime all the system and start it up. I have not had a chance to look at tm's to see where the black wire goes in the previous post, if anyone knows, it would save me some time...

    high flow thermostat

I purchased this high flow thermostat from ss diesel supply, http://www.ssdieselsupply.com/p14_super_high_flow_180_df_thermostat_wgkt_92_96.html was wondering if anyone has used it and if it worked for them. The stem is long and does not fit in the standard cucv housing but with the paradox...

Anyone running 3 fuel tanks in an M1010 or other CUCV?

it would be hard to get 3 filler necks and doors, you may be able to put a transfer pump in to fill the 30 gallon tank. The other problem may be the fuel switch. i don't know of a three way but you could use two -two way switches in series to get to the third tank. It will be a lot of weight...

optimizer long block - hummer 24V or cucv 24v

Making progress; I have the engine ready to install. Going to try and put it back in the truck tonight. It took some time to get everything repainted and I had to buy some new torque wrenches, my husky seams to have come apart and I did not trust it any more. Purchased the ones from harbor...

Finally have some time to get the motor back together. I purchased new lifters, had the heads rebuilt and it looks like I will have some time over the next month to get the motor back in and hopefully on the road. I have everything except finishing the exhaust and that is just a trip to the...

optimizer long block - hummer 24V or cucv 24v

yes the red goo is the anaerobic compound. you can get it at auto parts store. comes in small tubes. I think it took two of the small tubes when I put it together last time. I am guessing if the block surface or timing cover surfaces were bad you would use the gasket and if they are good not...
