Cleaned the truck up as good as I could, changed the engine oil and filter, changed the ATF and filter, changed the diff oil and gaskets, changed out the ATF in the T-case, gave the K&N a half a**ed cleaning, changed the fuel filter, put a new power steering belt on, changed the wiper blades...
ARP makes a head bolt kit for the 6.2's. Figure on about $160-170 for the set. If you want to throw 'em on, might as well do it now when the cylinder heads are getting yanked off. Do you need it? With 10-15 PSI of boost, probably not, but if you have the money for a 2 grand turbo kit, why not...
:ditto:
Yay! Time bomb 10-bolts! Seriously though, probably one of the worst axles made by GM. Usually its not a matter of "if" they'll go bang, but "when". I could bore you with tales of said axles going bang, but. . . You could get the thing rebuilt, but a potentially easier and cheaper...

OK Thanks...
You could probably do this if you planned on rolling the windows down. Of course, you could probably just pull the entire window regulator assembly and fabricate a way to keep the window in place. Which would allow you to put even more armor stuff in the door panels. But then you'd probably have...
I don't see why. Seems you only need it for the high-speed copper head gaskets. You shouldn't even need sealant for a regular ol' head gasket (like a Fel-Pro)
It's the fuel heater for the fuel filter assembly. And yes, there is an O-ring seal. As for getting it out (and I quote the almighty Haynes manual)
2. Remove the Model 80 filter base assembly.
3. Remove the vent plug from the filter base.
4. Grasp the heater with a pair of slip joint pliers...
Looks good. I've been thinking about putting a winch on mine especially since I've now bent the lower center bar on the brush guard  Apparently that particular one doesn't like Hi-Lift jacks. Might be a while before I can get it done since I don't have the tools (or the place to store them)...
Not sure what the rating on this thing was (3/4, 1 ton, etc.) but it was pretty big. And the wheel/tire setup was more of what you'd expect from a civvie trailer thats on the bigger side. Total of 8 wheels/tires on two axles. Here's a pic. Its on the left. The other trailer is an older "Mobile...
So I was outside the unit today when I noticed a strange looking trailer. The first thing I noticed was it kinda looked like a M109 deuce and a half, but . . . it was a trailer. Mil-spec tow eye and everything. I looked around for a data plate. No nomenclature, but it turned out to be a...
Yes, welcome to the site. Try to find a place that can rebuild it first. If you can't or the price is too much, google "Rare Electrical." They sell new isolated ground alts for the CUCV's for around $180-$190. They also sell the 24V starters. I dropped a new pair in my truck months and have had...
They seem to be pretty popular with LE agencies. I foud a M1009 in a junkyard not far from here that I was told had been used by a local sheriffs department IIRC. Still had the whole DARE logo on the front and everything. Man, that place had some great military stuff in it, but the folks that...
They'll handle a good bit of weight. I once towed a full size Bronco with a dead engine using the holes on the "step" of the bumper and a logging chain. Got a couple of pretty good jerks slowing down and going around corners, but no damage to either truck. The question I have is will these...
Due to finding more info and my general dumbness  I am reposting (previous post has been deleted)

Nothing special. Its a pretty typical leaf set up with SERIOUSLY LONG U-bolts. Sorry about the first pic. The camera wanted to be flaky, but everything you need to see is in there. The second pic is one of a funky block at the top of the leaf pack. Doesn't seem to serve any purpose other than to...
Shoot, as far as I'm concerned its YOUR truck. You can do whatever you want to it. It does look pretty sunny in those pics (at least sunnier than here today) which could be contributing to the gloss. Shiny or not, its nothing that a rattle can can't take care of.
Yep. I just looked up the VIN. Third digit is a "B". Kinda curious why the data plate on the door says its just a plain Jane M1028. And why they waited 6 years to convert it. I'm also gonna have to check the modification data plate. Your 2nd and mine seem eerily similar (at least same...
