My guess would be that the black / white wire under the dash is part of the seat belt buzzer circuit.
The orange wire next to the GP relay might be the GP controller voltage sense wire. There should be three wires connected to the side of the GP relay that goes to the GPs.
As for the alt...
Isn't white smoke an indication of unburned fuel? Maybe there is a stuck / leaking injector?
Just a guess though... I haven't had mine long enough to be any sort of judge on these things! :)
Both Gen lights should come on in the "run" position, and then go out once they start working, which usually requires a tap on the accelerator.
I'd start following the trouble-shooting guide in the TMs. You do have a good multimeter, don't you? :) It could be as simple as a blown bulb in the...
Did a lot of little things over the past few weeks. It was all stuff that was on my list to do "one of these days", but my Dad wanted to use the truck to haul an Novurania 18' rigid-hull inflatable boat in for repairs.
So, in no particular order:
2 new ( reconditioned ) batteries from...
Sounds like the glow plugs are all bad based on the readings you got. If it is still wired in the stock configuration, ie using the 24v supply to the glow plugs, it is possible for them all to go pretty quickly. It is also possible that some of them were bad already. Mine started just fine on 6...
One terminal is bigger than the other. I used the smaller one, which, on my truck, was closer to the GP relay. As I reused the existing wire and ring terminal, I don't think it could have been reamed out enough to use the larger terminal.
In simple terms, I don't think it matters which of the...
When I did mine, I just disconnected the wire between the resistor pack and the GP relay from the resistor pack. I was then able to use a reamer to make the hole in the ring terminal slightly larger so it would fit on the 12v buss terminal.
Just to clean things up, I then removed the resistor...
Has anyone ever tried replacing the resistor pack with a solid state voltage regulator? Something that actually controlled its own output, rather then depending only on Ohm's law?
