Welcome from Florida & to the Green Iron addiction. I got my first one @ 59 so don't worry about age, just irate wives, before they find out how much fun they are!
I was checking out the batteries, since some AF mechanic made a battery holder out of a piece of pallet wood & found a loose (+) wire going to the truck. The batteries that came with it were good, but they were swapped with two Interstate batteries of a larger CCA capacity. Anyway, during the...
That is some amazing work you are doing there. Keep up the building & pictures so we can see your progress. The folks @ the DVM are going to really scratch their heads when you bring this truck for them to title; or not!
Either of the Kudzu & running bamboo will cause you a world of trouble if you live in the South. The running bamboo will take over a lot of area if you don't keep it cut back. The Kudzu can grow up to 3 feet a day in hot weather, so you might want to rethink those two choices!
I saw that & wondered how limited it is? My usage will probably several times a month & not much more. I wouldn't want to draw the attention of the Florida DOT guys here or any other LEO for that matter on abusing an antique tag & lose it; the tag I have now lets me run it daily if that is what...
I already have everything in place for now, but when the tag expires in December, then I'll look into getting a permanent tag. Is the permanent tag good for normal ocassional usage or just parades, displays & other rare times? Thanks for the info for use this winter. Live & learn!
Got 'er done! The gal @ the DMV worked for a while trying to make everything go right. The computer kept spitting things back out, but she got it done & I have a clear Florida Title & a Florida Tag. She had to get into the truck to see the VIN plate, with a bit of trouble, that was GTO; the...
I am going to the Florida DVM this morning to get my Florida tag & apply for the Florida Title with the GL title in hand. Wish me luck! This is the truck that I am talking about:
Welcome top the site & enjoy your stay. Good luck on finding a replacement bed, as 61sleepercab stated, asking around will find you what you need locally, than trying to ship one in. You could get one & mount it to your truck & take it home that way.
Good luck on your entire trip & be safe. That's a long trip & it will probably be warm to say the least so open up the windows to the level you are comfortable with. The front window will blast you right outta there at high way speeds, plus shower you with bits of road sand & debris, so open it...
I changed the oil & filters (rear filter was leaking oil due to a cut gasket & a loose filter nut) for the first time @ 9660.0 miles, greased up the chassis, driveline & replaced the drivers seat belt with a four point harness system from a member here. There was a spare horn button hiding in...
Awesome score you have there. Your neighbors are going to really wonder about your new truck, quote, "What are you going to do with that big thing?" Congratulations on your first really big MV. The pad lock was your friend!
Great idea. Did you use a fired smoke grenade or clean one out? The ones I have dealt with that are fired, corrode badly due to the chemicals used to make the smoke. Hope you patented your idea before releasing it to us.
Nobody would know what you did, except that you posted it here. Tow truck $$$, Prius free for the usage... it worked, you win. You brought her home & not on a tow truck hitch with huge $$$ tow bill. Congratulations on a job well done! This time it is the Tow of Fame!
