Finally got to work on the 1008

I have a pile of stuff in the basement that belongs on the 1008 and finally got motivated to start installing. I finished my black, gray, and white camp spray paint job. Added a new black head liner and interior trim that was bought for 30 bucks from the junkyard and painted flat black...

    maybe the pink wire?

TI am spending the day helping a friend with his 1008 and am running into a problem. I left my copy of the TM at home, and the only internet we have is on my little phone. YAY! I am having a hard time getting the glowplug relay to close. It is a brand new napa st85. I have good voltage at...

    Fuel issues

I have been tinkering with one of my 1008s and It fires right up, runs a sec or two then dies. It then cranks over for 20 seconds or so to fire back up. I figure there must be a leak in the lines and the fuel is draining back. The fuel filter is completely full before I try to fire it up...

    glow Plug card from antennaclimber

I just installed one of Antennaclimber's new golw plug cards. It is awesome. It was the first time that I didn't have to use my manual switch to start the truck. The red LED is nice to see when the card turns itself on and off. Just props for a great product and a great member. Travis

    Tiny Tach is in!

I have had a diesel Tiny Tach for months now and finally got tired of looking at the package on my dresser. 30 minutes later it is installed! I hooked it up to the #1 fuel line and it is reading 650 rpms at idle. It reads 950 at high idle. I can't wait to hit the highway this afternoon to...

    Alternator problems solved

I see a million posts about alts not working and have read them all many times. My 1008 would show yellow on the volt guage, but the truck has run fine the last 3 or 4 months. When it wouldn't start the other day, I was surprised. Both Alt lights come on at startup and go right out. I have...

    M1031 rear driveshaft

I won a couple of M1031s from Warner Robbins. Of course, all of the driveshafts are bent from forklift bites. I am wondering if the rear driveshaft from a 1008 is close to the same. I know both the 205 and 208 were slip yoke cases and the length of the case is very close. My plan is to...

Has anyone run a GPS to check their speedo?

I just bolted on my 37 goodyears on Trail Worthy Fab recentered humvee wheels (awesome!!!!) and went for a spin with my Tomtom to check the speedo. I am only 3 MPH faster than the needle at 45. How far under was I before with the little 235/85s? Has anyone run a GPS to verify the speedo in...

    Warn Winch

Is anyone running a Warn 24V winch on their 1008/09? I was thinking of getting one off of ebay to stick on the 1008 for cool factor and for yanking things around the yard. Travis

I figured out why my Glow plugs are swollen...

I picked up a M1009 from GL last week. It runs, but is hard to start. All of the glow plugs were swollen and had to be pulled with one of those poorly made threaded pulling tools. I drove it around last night for a while and something about the clunking of the solenoid bothered me. I...

    EUC event 5127

My first EUC from december took 74 days to come back. My last one for event 5127 took 6 days. I figured I had at least a month before needing room for the M1009. Time to get some space cleared out. YAY GL!! Travis

    M1009 front spindle bearing nuts

I was attempting to tighten my front wheel bearings yesterday and ran into a spindle nut that I have never seen before. The nut is a large 6 pointed star. Has anyone ever seen one before? When you remove the lockout, there is another snap ring and washer before the nut. I have rebuilt tons...

    Just Won M105A1

I just wanted to say hello to everyone and introduce myself. I am a semi retires mechanic on the north side of atlanta. I have been cruising in my 84 M1009 for the last few weeks and decided I needed more camo in the driveway. I am the proud owner of a very nice m105a1 trailer from GL. I...
