What was the first year for Rockwells ? 1953? I'm looking at a 53 M35 Studebaker and I suppose it's got the Ball and claw style axles. Are these worth a hoot? Is it going to cost just as much to upgrade the axles as it is to find the U joint style axle?
...are halftrack front axles unique to halftracks and what are they? I've got a buddy thinking M211 front axles are the same and I would bet the farm they are not...but I don't know. Thanks in advance for clearing this up,Greg
I can get some "new" Michelins cheap for a 4X4 project but it seems to be the consensus they rot or wear out in a hurry. I understand even if they look "new"once you air them up they will have cracked sidewalls 9 out of 10 times. Anybody with past experience, good or bad would be...
I think I remember reading "it's too big" and "it can't be done". What about the type of power steering that sits on top of the frame, behind the axle, with only the drag link and bell crank on the outside of the frame? I didn't have a camera to take pictures of it. looks like an early 5 ton...
hook a brother up. I was "twisting up" my M35 in some rough stuff and twisted the shroud right off the radiator. What I need help with is who in Phoenix or Tucson to send the radiator to for repair.
Thanks,
Greg
I cruised the Boog around in the snow today. There was only 12 to 18 inches of snow so I could go just about anywhere I wanted. I have a set of four tire chains for when it gets deeper, can't wait to try 'em. I also have a Video of the Boog crawling around in the snow I'll post up in a bit...
I went on a goose chase today after a "5 ton Military crane". Well, it wasn't even close. It's definitely not Military and it's only two wheel drive. The only name on the thing is "RO" and it's got a mid engine Detroit Diesel V6 in it. Can I post pictures to see if any of you wrecker / boom...
I thought I would put a PTO winch off of a 5 ton on the rear of my Bobber. I bought a winch and mounted it between the frame rails behind the rear spring perches. Bought a transfercase PTO and made a propeller shaft. The PTO I bought had clutch dogs with a huge ramp on one side and a square...
does a 5 ton front winch hold? I know it's on here somewhere but I'll be dipped if I can find it. I know it's 5/8's and I suspect it's 200 feet but I'm not sure. I'm buying cable tomorrow and I would like to get the right amount. thanks
I bought a transfer case PTO to drive a winch on the rear of my Bobber. I don't have it in front of me to take a picture...but, what is the compression fitting on it for ? Oil ?
