    M871 Rebuild

Natural, I don't have the time to coat them. Part of the reason I skipped the ship lap the deck should drain well. This trailer is getting a tarp kit next year so they will have limited exposure, and white oak has a natural resistance.

    M871 Rebuild

Well I finally managed to get the deck on. This is dry fit, but it isn't going anywhere now I have to mark and drill the holes. I skipped the ship lap bu the end boards are tenoned into the trailer. Fun stuff!

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Could be leftovers from an earlier repair.

    R & R work (remove and repair)

And my GF get's mad I put dirty Sterlite bins in the shower, for cleaning... Only Chris would put a drill press in the shower.

Military now doing criminal back ground checks to get on posts.

Minot's been like that since 9/11, not full background checks but they check all visitor's in the system. As well as registration and insurance. Thankfully I have an ID, although they really wanted to search me at Malmstrom.

    M923a2 building air to frequently

Sounds like the governor is out of adjustment as mentioned. Additionally and quite possibly your gauge may not be accurate. Also I believe the gauge reads the secondary tank, where as the governor runs off the supplied pressure from the wet tank. If you have a pressure protection or wet tank...

    Reason #238 I love my m917

Is there a complete list...I'd be hard pressed to make it much further than a dozen or so reasons why I love anyone of my trucks.

    24v winch on a 12v vehicle

Talk about dredging up an old thread the OP isn't even a member here...

What does your M939 series truck weigh.

I've found that between the dump, gravel pit and scrap yard my truck weighs drastically different depending on where I am... Unless they are certified I wouldn't trust their scales. All they care is the difference between loaded and unloaded and it wouldn't surprise me if the scale was off to...

California drivers licence and 5 tons

Every state is different. I maintain a Class A and medical card, just as a last resort. If I ever need a job I can drive, plain and simple this country will always need drivers. Half the OTR truck drivers I see at truck stops are from other countries. I'll never be to good to drive a truck...

A couple of M35a2 design and history questions

C-123, C124 and C-130 all transported vehicles for the army starting in 49'. They all had a an interior head height of less than 9'.

    M936a2 towing a M931a2

I typed a bunch of stuff and realized I'm of zero help, unless you need a second driver.

    M870A1 Acquisition Thread

Looks good Matt, makes me want to finish the deck on my trailer. White Oak, but same process. If anything it's been drying in the garage and should be read to Mill. I'm thinking of skipping the ship-lap on mine (M871) looks like you didn't ship lap your's either. But did bevel the edge...

    baby HEMTT Project

I too drooled over this project. If I had a shop I'd offer up space and some volunteer time to finish and return alas at present I don't. Even if I had the funds to buy the project I don't think I'd feel right owning someone else's dream.

    M870A1 Acquisition Thread

Looks great Matt! Seems we have a consensus to paint green first, so I'm just going to agree. I like the full two coats and then the details, first coat being primer. What paint are you using?

    m939 hard top back window

It's easier to use mirrors. The back window on every daycab I've run has only been clean for about 15m after dispatch, particularly in the winter. I don't even look out the back window of the M915. I suggest adding after market convex mirrors, the little OEM ones aren't great. I'd much...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Any problems with the 1600's? I'm about to upgrade my 925 from G177's and am torn between 1400 and 1600.

    Tire chain question

I prefer the heavy spring on chain style tensioner. The bungee cord style is light duty, for mom's station wagon or grandma's buick.
