What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Pulled the muffler today today to see if made any difference in the drive-ability of my turbo charged M925. Turbo seems to spool faster and build more boost at the same RPMs. Overall its louder but not nearly as bad as my deuce. Id like to get a pipe to get the exhaust tip back up to original...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Replaced front carrier bearing. The bearing itself was fine, but the rubber portion started coming apart making a weird noise between 55 and 65. Was alot easier to replace than expected.

    M931 transmission swap questions

I had the same issue with my truck. The flex plate bolts backed off and snapped. I ended up just buying a reman in a can from a member here for 1500 bucks. I have no idea idea if it was for a 250 or an 8.3, but it worked fine. I tried to do the cheap take out route and ended up swaping my...

Noob question: How bad ARE the brakes, really?

Some people will probably give me crap about it, but I put over 20,000 miles on my deuce(combo of both 900NDCCs and 395MVTs) towing a 6k trailer that did not have brakes. Not once did the truck give me the impression it wouldn't stop when I wanted it too. I've had the truck loaded the the hilt...

Killing NHC 250s -what we have learned killing 3 of them.

I have an 84 M925 with the NHC250 that has had some work done to it by the previous owner. It has bigger injectors and a turbo (not sure of actual part number, Could find out if you are interested BC350 turbo/injectors) and I can hold about 50-55(on 1600s, 4th gear like 2000-2100ish, roughly...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Finally got around to installing my tach cable. First time since I installed the transmission I can finally see what RPM it shifts at and noticed it shifts at 200-400RPM higher then my old trans. Much better on hills now too.

Air dryer freeze up and other problems

Ive been having issues with over pressure and valves sticking open the last week while it has been cold and snowy here. The other day I noticed the truck got up to 150 psi and I just pulsed the brakes to drop it back to to 90. Then the brakes stuck open dumping the air and after about 30 seconds...

Show your 5 tons in the snow.

I don't know why the link died. I uploaded it to youtube. Shouldn't disappear this time. M925 in the snow.

Show your 5 tons in the snow.

M925 in the snow. Took my truck out for. Lite fun the other night. I just put in a new trans so I was being easy on it.

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

New trans is in. Took it for a drive. I got to get use to how it shifts. New trans shifts a much higher RPM and much smoother. I got a few things to address before I can road trip it. I can't tell right now if it has a leak or if some of the fluid I spilled is just dripping. Because my truck is...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Got my "new" old transmission removed today. Got the new new one put in and most of thingies bolted too it. Reman transmission was so much smoother to do then the take out I wish I hadn't tried to cheap out in the first place. Hope to have the truck back on the road before Saturday. I've had the...

    PNW Info Thread!

I haven't tried titling my 84 M925 yet. But when I did my deuce, the DMV person just added a bunch of 0's to the end of the vin to get it to the long enough length. I would try talking to someone in another DMV. It really is more about who you talk too .

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Got my M925 trans completely prepped for removal today. Only 4 bolts to go. My new transmission has been stuck in limbo on the freight trailer due to weather. Was hoping to drop and install today but that looks like a Monday or Tuesday job at this point. Only want to rent the jack once. To get...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Started pulling all of my accessories off my transmission again. Bought a rebuilt one from a SS member and now just got to wait for it to show up. Hopefully have the thing on the road before Christmas and not have to do another transmission job for a long time. Three transmissions in 2 months is...
