But it might be a Case Master Body Inc. or GAr Wood Industries as well. There are many makers for these trailers.
All have 4 didget serial numbers in the 1960's.
All M101A1 have the FSN 2330-898-6779.
Refer to TM 9-2330-202-14P, August 1962.

European MV in the US are expensive. If still supported with NEW parts, more expensive (However, you are on the lucky side).
US MV in Europe are expensive, too. No maker supplying new parts, only 40 or more year old NOS, which is simply old (NOS seals are leaking, rubber parts are hard and not...
At some 120,000 miles the controller carts for the pre glow start to fail. Plugs need a max glowing time of 6 seconds, else they overheat, if the card does not ad addidional registers. There is no regulator coil in the plugs. The Hummer plugs with 24 V have regulator coils incorporated. To...
O.K., to my knowledge here in Germany the US Army changed gauges as needed, except in the Depot maintainance, the total rebuilding of the truck to condition "NEW". There all gauges showed 0 hours, 0 miles before the test rides.
So the 64 engine hours are for my understanding the hours after the...
Warthog,
I have to add something which supports your side. When I bought my M1009 in 1992 in summer, I had NO manual, no internet help. And the truck was not really ready to run and in some aspects incomplete. But I got it running and used it for 14 years until rust killed it.
Did SS exist by...
Part 34 is helpfull, the torque is listed somewere in a long list of bolt sizes and torque in Part 34, at least normally. And take reference to the version you own, so the manual series you must find out yourself.

For me jmsneorrcom is doing what nowaday is standard in the bussiness life: spread e-mails around to anybody, someone is willing to do your job (almost wrote stupid enough). I hate this behaviour.
The only real thing is to learn the job, even the hard way. If after several tries you need help...
Cold oil always is foamy after such a short drive. If the oil is still foamy after 20 miles, it should be changed. Else, forget it.
Reason: The air bubbles which the gear theet pull into the oil can not get up to the surface fast enough to disapear!

Hallo,
if I got it correct, I'm the first non US citysen to reply to this about the remaking of the steel soldier apperiance.
I did read me through the 86 posts. Many good ideas, however, some posts simply show the users and not knowing, how much work is behind some programming. For it is not...
The SEE was built in Germany by Unimog. Model is, as said, the 419, a version of the 406. Freightliner was put on them , for Freightliner by that time issued the offer (buy American).

Code C, Code J, all the same block. The small differences are inside! So the engine should fit into a M1009. The TM 400 in a M1009 is standard, so this also shoud fit. Connecting the flywheel with the torque converter needs some space, means to fit the bolts without the oil filter installed. It...
The regulator is a mass production Delco part, fitting for many altinators. The diodde plate is the 102 Amps version, which at least over here is a relativly common part, so it should be in the States. Inexpensive mass porduction of relatively low reliability. Keep parts on hand!

If the pump is mechanicaly ok, you can replace the seals by youself, if you work in a realy clean environement. It takes about 35 to 120 minutes to replace the seals, depending on your skill. The repair kit comes for something like 10 bucks. To take the IP out of the truck and refit it, of...
Technically yes, if you install an air brake system to brake the trailer, however they are not made to pull a trailer. They are reconnesance vehicles and can stand long distant driving without overheating. But for these missions never with a trailer. A Jeep trailer is no problem, if your Ferret...
I can get basically any part for the Iltis here in Germany.
However, I think you dislike the price and the shipping costs, not to mention the tax you have to pay on that.
So what precicely you need?
Please e-mail to Wolf-Dose@t-online.de, for I'm not every day in this forum.

davidkroberts,
I know that VW sold the tooling and the complete assembly to Bombadier. I did read this in the early 80's is Soldat und Technik und in Wehrtechnik. And when VW sold that and the price Canada paid for the Iltis, the German Army got two+ for one (Some 8800 DM vers some 36000 C$)...
Hallo,
I did not read me through all the statements above, however, some things were absolutle clear for me from the fist question:
the alts have been shot, new regulators and diode plates madantory (a mass production part of AC Delco, same as in very many passenger cars. Can be exchanged at...
How much did you waste for that wrack, hope not more than 200 bucks. This vehicle is so far from original, that you need a lot of money to bring it back to what it should look like.
See pic!

Sorry guys,
withoput reading me though all of the post, at least those I did read, I found out that there are some problems.
First of all, the Form 97 (some call it SF97, which also might be correct, depending on the point of view of the officials): This form is also required here in Germany to...
