Suggestions Wanted! Your Input Is Welcome!

I understand what you guys are saying, but my thoughts were a way to speed up the website by removing the records of people that don't use it from the database. I understand that some people just lurk, I did that for a year before I joined, then lurked 6 more months before I started posting...

Suggestions Wanted! Your Input Is Welcome!

Purge Membership Database? This may not be a popular suggestion, but here goes: Would it be possible, or desirable, to purge the membership database of anyone who has never left a post? It would speed up the website, and make it easier to find people when searching through the membership list...

First Adventure with the deuce! (pix)

We just have bottle jacks in ours. We picked up a couple of 20-ton (way overkill) jacks at Lowes and keep one in each truck. We got the 20-ton so it will lift the XM817 when loaded.

First Adventure with the deuce! (pix)

Looks like fun. Did you have a spare, or at least a way to move one up from the back?

M35 (and other MV) Roadside Assistance list

And, just like you might plan a route using Google Maps, or something, you could also make a note of willing SS members, and their phone numbers, along your route. If you have a problem, or would just like to meet someone for lunch, you would have the list of numbers with you. That could save a...

M35 (and other MV) Roadside Assistance list

Also; Many people, like me, will not see a PM right away and might miss it for several hours. Unless I happen to be doing some computer work, I'm only going to get PMs and emails in the morning, at lunch, and in the afternoon. Sometimes I'll not be online until 10:00 PM. Cell phone is the best...

Low air pressure buzzer is dead.

Ours died when I had a battery connection problem. (M35A2) The alternator went into some major over voltage and fried it. We also lost a few bulbs. The one on the XM817 has never worked, but I was told at the last inspection I had to fix it, even though the truck is air assist, not actual air...

    Should I marry this girl?

I think if you don't, you're nuts. Also, if you don't marry her, give her my number.

    5 ton Parts Interchange

If it's a cummins 250, the only thing that will work is the alternator. The steering box on the M818 is on the outside of the frame, and very large, the steering box on the M35 is on the inside of the frame and much smaller. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the M809 Steering box...

    M817 Brake Adjustment

First, of course, check the fluid to make sure it's full. Then, there is too much to it to type it all out, so: Page 8-16 for brake adjustment Page 8-37 for brake pedal adjustment TM 9-2320-260-20 It's not a bad job, except handling the tires when adjusting the brakes.

    Big toys or money makers?

Our XM817 is used almost weekly, and the M35A2 is used almost daily. We haul dirt, gravel, tents, cots, mulch, lumber, people (parades) garbage, junk, and just drive them around for the heck of it. I don't know that they exactly make money, because we could do a lot of the same thing with...

    W/W bumper extensions for a W/OW truck?

The winch brackets do fill the space between the frame extensions and the bumper. If you don't use them, you'll have to fab something in their place. The brackets and extensions on our #1 M35 were fabricated, probably during the Depot Rebuild it went through in 1990. The only problem I see...

Current paint color to match a 1958 M37?

Our local PPG dealer can custom match pretty much any color. They can even add a "flattening" agent. I like the one part enamel, it looks pretty good.
