If you drain your tanks with a wide open port, the air will blow right through the water. You would need some way of slowing down the flow. As far as the air horn valve, I've taken one of those apart and I can see that needle valve getting mucked up pretty easy.

I wonder if you have water in the tranny. The counter shaft is in the bottom of the tranny and might be in ice. The water would sit in the bottom of the oil. maybe?

You're talking about putting as locker in the rear axle of a big truck. Granted, it doesn't have much horsepower but it has enough torque. When you preload the axle in a turn, and for some reason it jerks or hops. I (in my entitled opinion) feel it will take out a lockout hub. On the front, no...

Its already an open diff I don't know how unlocking hubs would help.

You're going to need a few more hubs as spares for the rear cause anytime it hops under power they are going to grenade.
