jaxsof, you are right that is a picture of the M977 cargo, the spare tire is where it should be (behind the passenger side of the cab) but there is no spare there
so kinda a dumb question, but how much exactly is 1 cord of wood? im just wondering because me and a couple buddies packed the bed of my short bed 4X4 3/4 ton duramax full up to cab height and where wondering how heavy it was, because the truck was sitting level

i agree, great looking trailer, and as far as the dump bed goes i believe a good while back a member here was building a trailer out of a deuce chassis and thru the words of others was trying to make it a dump and a powered unit. he was planning on running a drive shaft from the rear output...
so i just spent the whole weekend reading this thread and now i really want to go build something....what, i'm not sure yet but i'll figure it out lol. great job, looks like new.
just a guess but i'm going to say the "ballbusting" ones are from an M88 Hercules tracked wrecker, and the other one sounds like the ones we have at work off our M984 wrecker for our M1070 HET systems
i believe that bed is for a long 5 ton series before the M809 series, note the BII box under the left front corner. as the previously posted picture of an M814 shows no BII box on the left side, just throwing that out there...
i get spend my days as an army HET mechanic (M1070/M100 heavy equipment transporter), my trucks are the replacement for those M911's but let me tell you, the M911's where the chit, i was in ft Knox back in july for a training exercise and had the pleasure of driving a few bobtailed M1070's on...
if i recall right, they'll be just 85-90% of the time when the self test is good, but every once in awhile they wont except the fill even with after completing the self test. just some food for thought but i'm not a commo guy, just a mechanic
how about a 5.9l 24 valve Cummins Turbo diesel with the p7100 mechanical IP, 120 hp injectors, #6 fuel plate pulled full forward, big honkin air filter, 4" down pipe to 5" exhaust? and maybe an 8 or 9 spd behind it?
