    Strength of fiberglass sides?

I meant that I stack firewood to the top (and higher in the middle of the trailer) of the side racks of my M101A3. I should have been a little more clear. I will look around for a pic.

How many troops in a m939

More than once I was considered "cargo" with 25 or 30 others in the back of a 5 ton. When the trucks had no cover the drivers side was preferred to avoid smelling large amounts of exhaust! Of course sitting on the troop seat on the passenger side was better then sitting on the steel bed in the...

All four batteries dead... Jump Start?

I did the 'ol leave the battery switch on for a few days myself last year. Lesson well learned when you have a 24,000 pound paperweight in your driveway. I charged each battery individually for 24 hours. Two were ressurrected and two were junk. My truck now has a two battery setup, (until I can...

Wanting to buy a M923A2 from GL

I too have picked up trucks at Barstow and Fontana. Fontana was easier as far as it is not a military base. I went down late Sunday night, spent the night in a motel and showed up at the truck center as it opened. The only issue I had was that I did not call ahead and get an appointment. I had...

    Block heater M923A1

ICUDOV- I used my block heater last year on a -12 degree night, had it on for 4.5 hours, my truck started up as if it was 70 degrees. I only have two batteries. If I plan on starting it first thing in the morning I use an appliance timer rated at 15 amps to turn on without me having to go into...

    Block heater M923A1

Without a doubt a block heater is the best modification for the money. Won't need ether. Will start in the cold with two batteries. Melts the snow off your hood if left on long enough.

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Went up the canyon and cut a little wood for the winter.

Does it run? MCLB Barstow will let you drive it off. The Yermo annex (also located in Barstow) may or may not let you drive it off.

    Which TMs should I print?

If you have a laptop download all of 'em! At the very least put all the manuals on a thumb drive. Read the operators manual from front to rear before you pick up your truck. The most important piece of equipment on a recovery is a credit card with a high limit. Next most important is a plan...

    batteries low

I left the battery switch on for about a week.... (lesson learned). My batteries showed between 6 and 8 volts. I figured they were toast. My local mechanic (who was a mechanic in the army years ago) told me to try and charge them each individually for at least 24 hours at 6 to 10 amps. I did as...

M925 winch diagram? winch will not wind or roll forward but does free spool.

The clutch lever on my truck is a bit quirky. Sometimes it pushes over both directions with a gentle push. Other times it takes a coordinated, hernia inducing, combo of drum rotation and a well timed MASSIVE palm swing. Oh and always wear gloves.

    M923 on fire

I can not even imagine the sickness you must feel. I would be almost as grief stricken from losing my truck as I would a family member. So sorry for your loss.......

    M925a1 wiring diagram

If you are going to replace the air pressure switches anyway........I would "tap" on 'em a few times with something heavy.

    M925a1 wiring diagram

From what I can see on "FO-2. M939/A1 Electrical system wiring diagram (2 of 2)" in TM 9-2320-272-23-5, wire number 57 is listed in two different spots. Both are ground wires, one for the air pressure switch. My truck had issues with the low air buzzer not turning off even with the guage...

    M925a1 wiring diagram

Try the "foldout_figures" in TM 9-2320-272-23-5. They are toward the back of the manual.

Nevada TO Mississippi VIA I40 recovery M925A1 checklist REVIEW BY SS

I agree with Commandojeff, some electrical fixin's are nice to have. I had to perform minor surgery on my trucks battery and start/run/stop switches to get it started. Extra batteries for the camera so we can have lots of pics!! Take a fresh credit card and enjoy the adventure!

I got myself in a buckle!

Call the GL site and see if you can postpone the pickup a few days to enable you to get a few more things worked out. My experience with Nellis has been extremely positive.

    Winch Help

Let me start off by saying "I am no expert". I operated the winch on my M932 a handful of times in the Army. I have just recently operated the winch on my M925 a few days ago. Here are a few things I know: Clutch lever towards the passenger side is free spool as soon as the drum lock is...
